The European Development Days – the EU’s flagship development and cooperation Forum – turns 10 this year ( 15-16th June)! Over the years, 100 world leaders and 42,000 participants from 154 countries have passed through its doors. ADNE will bring African Diaspora voice at this year’s edition, which boasts an impressive 120 sessions and 64 stands in the EDD Global Village.
Diasporas are important Development actors:
Diaspora remittances have surpassed the traditional official aid with remittances of US$60 billion annually.
It is essential to engage the diaspora in policy dialogs that affect the lives of Africans and put in place systems that encourage diaspora development initiatives. The diaspora are not only well informed about the opportunities existing in their communities of origin but also they are willing to invest in fragile markets when others will not.
